About Us

Our Journey

Mr. Frank Roberts is the owner and president of Lady’s Island Oyster Inc., which he started in 2009. Frank brings experience to the business from commercial shellfishing, lobstering, carpentry, and the military. He is a former USMC Scout Sniper who served in Beirut in the 80s, a retired homicide detective, and also worked with the FBI’s violent crimes task force targeting narcotics. Mr. Frank pioneered South Carolina’s oyster farming industry and set it on a trajectory to success as a result of the characteristics and skills he developed in these positions. He keeps all the mechanical systems of the farm running and focuses on keeping the oysters happy, too. If you’re lucky enough to come visit the farm, you’ll get to meet Frank's dogs, Crickett, Bronco, Hutson, and Brooke, and you certainly won’t forget the experience!
